The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in Mpumalanga is currently visiting the Fernie 2 Neighborhood Hall in Mpuluzi to render providers on the community.
SASSA are going to be rendering companies including new social grant applications, change of payment method, client care enquiries, and also the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) COVID-19 grant enquiries.
In an announcement, the agency said it can be alarmed with regards to the large range of people counting on social grants for survival.
“The purpose from the Integrated Registration Outreach Programme [ICROP] is to reach-out to the large range of clients/beneficiaries to access SASSA services.
“This is often as a result of lack of infrastructure at Fernie and there's no totally functional office committed to service the area on a daily basis. The support issue produced for intervention encounters a significant inflow of possible beneficiaries, which makes it tricky for the office to attend to all people who check out a service point.
“In this reach-out programme, SASSA will mobilise additional resources to allow the servicing of all consumers and raise usage of Social Assistance services,” the agency said.
